For the past twelve years i have been obsessed with bikes. Until 2007 though, they were always pedal powered. Initially a trials rider, i fell in love with bikes, and it was 'my sport'. After several years i fell into bmx accidentally, which eventually ended up taking over my trials riding. I rode bmx everyday, and loved nothing more than crashing for weeks on end trying to learn tricks, to eventually one day succeed. The challenge of overcoming what was initally deemed impossible was intoxicating. I competed across the UK and rode demo's and shows, but was more known for making and riding in video's.
In 2006 i had a crash which was the beginning of the end of my bmx days. In the 18 months off the bike, in between operations and recovery, i bought a Yamaha R6 and took my bike licence. A spur of the moment trackday in December 2007 was the first day of the rest of my life. I knew it was something i could love. The speed and the challenge, and also the consequences of getting it wrong all to me. 2008 was filled with trackdays with my friend Ryan Myler, and we decided we wanted to race the following year.
2009 saw my first year of racing, in the Hottrax Junior 600 endurance series. We had a very successful year, with podium finishes at all but one round of the series, and many other awards along the way, including Best overall effort, best presented, and best overall effort for the entire season.
I also had success in sprint racing, with podium finishes, including wins, with the PDMCC at Three sisters circuit.
This continued in 2010, with friend and team mate Ryan, I entered the HMRC National 600cc endurance championship and won the first round. Our endurance season was cut short though after Ryan had a serious crash in round two. I moved to sprint racing and managed to take two titles, the PDMCC Formula 600 and Open championships, picking up Rider of the meeting, Fastest lap of the meeting, and also Fastest lap average over the season awards along the way.
In 2012 i am racing in the Thundersport GB Superstock 1000 on an all new Honda CBR1000rr Fireblade. Once again in the ThundersportGB paddock, the competition is fierce, and with aims in line with last year, to enjoy every minute, continue to progress and drop lap times, and gel with the 1000cc style of riding whic is new to me this year. Last year i said i would like a podium or two. It is yet to happen in the Thundersport club, such is the competition, however this year i am determind to step up my game and get on the podium. It is a massive target for me, and something which will drive me throughout the season. I want to be a competetive racer in every race.
I will also aim to race at several other meetings, primarily the Hottrax Motogrande 1000 races at their Anglesey and Cadwell Park meetings.
